Dear Valued Partner,
Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the current crisis. As we continue to face widespread shortages of essential items, we wanted to share updates from government agencies related to using ethanol products for sanitization.
CDC Guidance on Cleaning and Disinfection for Households
On March 26, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released interim recommendations for U.S. Households indicating that heightened sanitization efforts should be undertaken to reduce the spread of COVID-19. According to the CDC’s guidance, alcohol-based sanitizing sprays or wipes should contain a minimum of at least 70% alcohol. [1].
e-NRG – 92% Ethyl (Ethanol) Alcohol 8% Isopropyl (Isopropanol) Alcohol
What are the ingredients of e-NRG?
e-NRG is pure alcohol, made from a blend of 92% ethyl alcohol (ethanol) and 8% isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol).
Using Alcohol as a disinfectant
According to the Center for Disease and Control, alcohol-based products (i.e., ethanol and isopropyl alcohol) can be used for sanitization purposes relating to COVID-19[1] [2]. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identifies ethanol as an active ingredient in products for use against COVID-19.[3]
WARNING: Please note that many household cleaning products including those with an alcohol base are flammable and should be kept away from all sources of ignition.
CDC and FDA Recommendations on Hand Sanitizers
The CDC’s guidance indicates that for hand sanitization, alcohol-based products must have at least 60% ethanol or 70% isopropyl alcohol in order to be effective against COVID-19.[4] However, the FDA doesn’t recommend that consumers make their own hand sanitizer. If made incorrectly, hand sanitizer can be ineffective – or worse. [5]
Stay at Home | Stop the Spread.
It is important to remember that no one product will guarantee immunity or safety from COVID-19. e-NRG is fully committed to supporting the community during this difficult time. As a provider of ethanol fuel and ethanol fuel-based products, e-NRG is an essential business and remains open to provide services to consumers through the COVID-19 crisis.
